This is a stand alone novel that is an adult spin-off of the Lux Series You do not need to read a Lux book to read Obsession and vice versa.

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

My Rating:

My Thoughts:
This was a phenomenal read! I absolutely loved this story about Hunter and Serena. After reading so much about the Luxen and their romances in the Lux series, it was an absolutely peace of mind to see the story from an Arum. It made me understand the whole warring between them and background of the Arum.

I absolutely loved Hunter in Opposition. He was funny and sarcastic. That just went tenfold when I read this book. He was so full of anger and a bit of hate, but seeing him become filled with human feelings was amazing. He reminded me of a badder version of Daemon. I loved his arrogance towards the officers at the beginning -- it was priceless. Also the way he tried hard not to like Serena was amazing. He tried everything in him to be an Arum, but she changed him into something more.

Serena was awesome as well. I loved her confidence and feisty attitude. She was head strong and was always caught in a situation but she never freaked out like a human would normally do. She allowed herself to feel everything, allowed herself to make mistakes and even trust the aliens. The fact that she fell in love during the process doesn't surprise me. It only added to the awesomeness that was bold Serena.

The story about Serena's mom broke my heart as well the story of Hunter's sister. The fact that he and his brother Lore decided to pull away from the his brother Sin and the other Arum was amazing. They are quite outstanding characters.

The couple seriously reminds me of an older version of Daemon and Katy. Too cute!

I wish JLA would do a whole trilogy on the Arum because I think they are just as awesome as the Luxen.
