Synopsis:
A lion’s pride isn’t defined only by those he commands but also resides with his hair, so when a human dares to butcher Arik’s mane, he gets his revenge—and claims her as his mate.
A billionaire CEO and leader of the largest East Coast pride, Arik is a ladies man and a lion. Used to commanding others, and obedience, he can’t believe it when a hairdresser with tempting curves chops off a hunk of his precious mane.

But her biggest mistake is in running from him.

Run as fast as you can, little mouse, because this cat loves to chase—and pounce.

Oh, and he also likes to nibble on tender bits. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for a human woman, a woman who can make the impossible happen because everyone knows lions can’t purr…until now.

My Rating:

Quote(s) I Like

"Is that supposed to mean something?...I don't check the label to see who brings me my steak. I just eat it...Those I've heard of. Decent, I hear, but overpriced. I can get a bigger plate of food at LongHorn. And according to my girlfriends, the male waiters are cuter too." - Kira

"I guarantee when I'm between your thighs and you're clawing my back, you'll be screaming a different tune." - Arik

"The soft purr of his voice should come with a warning label much like they showed on TV. Please note that the hunk sitting across from you may cause heart palpitations, clammy hands, wet panties and a hunger for things not meant to be eaten in public." - Kira

My Thoughts

I have been dying to read this book for a while and I'm so happy I was able to finally read it. I don't read many paranormal stories about lions, so I knew this was something that I definitely HAD to read. I totally enjoyed reading this story. I was hoping to give it a 5 star rating, but I did find that this was a little bit rushed for my liking. I would have loved for this to play out somewhere with the romance.

Kira is a sarcastic, bold woman who doesn't hold her tongue for anyone. At the same time she's also frightened by her ex. I loved how cool Kira was and how unfazed she seemed to be the luxurious of life. She wanted everything to be simple -- more so because she was on the run. Her quick words and sexual needs definitely made her the perfect mate for Arik.

Arik is all Alpha male in every sense. From being a CEO to also being the Alpha of his Pride what more can be said. He's hot, smart, eloquent and protective. I loved how quick he was at calming himself and his lion. Most Alpha males don't know how to do that. He was game for messing around with Kira, but when things got real he knew she had to be his completely and wholly. I loved Arik because he never really played macho macho with Kira. He was true to himself, played the Alpha role while still being a sweet, loving and protective guy.

The romance was pretty good. Definitely was quicker than I would have thought which is why I wish this was a bit longer. I felt like Arik was too determined to make Kira his. Granted when a paranormal being finds his mate they quickly become one -- in most cases -- however, I wanted them to date a bit more and really get to know each other. I wanted to see more cat & mouse chase between the two. The sexual tension between them was definitely ablaze. They were attracted to one another without a doubt and the sex was pretty great between them, so no complaints there. I think they were perfectly matched as mates.

Arik's mother was a grouchy, snob of a woman. I loved how Kira stood up to her from start to finish. Even when she found out they were lions Kira still held her own against his mother. The confrontations were priceless between them. Complete comedy between mother and girlfriend in every sense.

Gregory, Kira's ex, was a madman or rather a crazy wolf! I couldn't believe he was even a wolf. The way he acted as if Kira was his mate was insane. Especially all the things he did to make her afraid. I hated that the cops couldn't help her, but I'm glad that Arik beat him to a pulp!

Overall, I did enjoy this story and plan to finish on with the companion series because I did enjoy the Beta, Hayder and the Omega, Leo.
