I definitely enjoyed this book. I was hoping to give it 5 stars, but for the first book in a long series it was definitely amazing. I loved the paranormal aspect and the various caste of the dark faes. The action, though minimal, definitely had me on the edge of my set ready and waiting for more. The buildup in this book was insane, so I have pretty high hopes for the rest of the books.
MacKayla aka Mac is a spitfire even though she is naive and easily frightened. I love how she always stood her ground against the fae and Jericho. She always thought she lived a normal life, but with Alina's, her sister, death she learned that she is far from the norm. She is a human with the ability to see the fae for what they are and can find objects of power that were created by the fae. She has gone to Ireland to search for her sister's murderer, but in turn, she found a world she wish she didn't. No matter the obstacles thrown at her, she found a way to overcome them and found a way to get answers. I can't wait to see her grow within this series and become a kickass fae killer.
Jericho Barrons is a mystery and a hot one at that. I'm not sure if I still truly trust him because he keeps so many secrets and has Mac going on these crazy "quests" for his own need and greed. I love that he does protect her from being killed, but I also hate how he threatens her. I think he is probably growing some type of feelings for her, but continues to push her away. Jericho is a coldhearted bastard, but at the same time I'm not sure if he's all that mean.
V'lane, the fae prince aka the god of sex, is one hot, annoying character. I think he is ruthless in how he uses his power on woman. I mean he instantly makes a woman horny because he just exudes sex. I hated all his encounters with Mac because he didn't care how far she went around him. I mean he even almost took it too far in public with her. I definitely want to see more of him and hopefully in a more friendly light, but I think he's a great character to interact with Mac no matter how crazy and ruthless he is.
I loved all the drama with the various dark faes, the vampire and the Lord Master. I'm totally interested in reading Bloodfever because that ending was insane! I need to know more about Mac's true family lineage. I need to know more about Jericho and how he and prince V'lane know each other. Who the hell had the Sinsar Dubh? Just so many questions and I need them answered.
Definitely an awesome paranormal fae read.
